Oppillamaniyar Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Karaikkal Town in Union Territory of Puducherry, India. Nithyakalyana Perumal Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu located in Karaikkal Town in Union Territory of Puducherry, India. This Temple is one of the three famous temples in the port city of Karaikal, Puducherry, India. It is nearby the Karaikal Ammaiyar Temple. The temple tank of Chandra Theertham separates the two temples. The temple tank belongs to both the temples.

The Temple
Presiding Deity is called as Nithyakalyana Perumal. Here Lord is in lying posture called Anantha Sayanam like the posture in Srirangam. Shrines for Chakkarathzhwar, Ranganayaki Thayar, Narasimha, Hanuman, Avatars of Lord Vishnu, Lord Krishna's Vishwaroopam, Garuda, Aandal and Alarmelu Thayar can be found in the temple.

Festivals
The festivals related to Vishnu and his avatars are celebrated in a grand manner in this temple. The Rama Navami, Vaikunda Ekadesi, Hanuman Jayanti and the entire month of Margazhi are celebrated here. During the Tamil month of Puratadhi or Puratasi, many rituals take place in the temple such as the Pavithra Pradhishtai, Kumba Poojai, Poornahoothi, Chakkarathalwar Aavahanam etc.

Kailasanathar Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Karaikkal Town in Union Territory of Puducherry, India. Kailasanathar Temple is one of the three most famous temples in Karaikal city. This temple is located opposite to the another most famous Karaikal temple, the Karaikal Ammaiyar Temple. Presiding Deity is called as Kailasanathar and Mother is called as Soundarambal.


History
The temple is believed to be constructed before 2000 years ago which makes it the oldest temple in Karaikal district. It was reconstructed by the Pallavas in the 8th century and again in the French rule.

The Temple
The temple is constructed in a large complex surrounding it making it the largest temple complex of the famous temples in Karaikal city. The main attraction of the temple be the four elaborate doorways in each directions of the temple complex. The street where the temple located is named after the temple as Kailasanathar Kovil street. The entrance of the shrine of Subramaniar faces the doorway to the west.


Presiding Deity is called as Kailasanathar and Mother is called as Soundarambal. Shrines of Nataraja, Dakshinamurthy, Vinayaga, Various Lingams, Two shrines for Lord Muruga along with Devasena and Valli, Saraswathi, Lakshmi,  Small statues of 63 Nayanmars, Durgai, Chandikeswara and Navagrahas can be found in the Temple.

Mangani Festival:
The Mangani Festival is associated with both Kailasanathar Temple and Karaikal Ammaiyar Temple. The important figure of the Mangani festival, Lord Bikshatanamurthy is of the Kailasanathar Temple.
Float Festival in Chandra Theertham:
The temple tank Chandra Theertham is associated with the main three temples of Karaikal. The Float festivals in Karaikal with the idols of Lord Kailasanathar from this temple and Lord Nithyakalyana Perumal from the Perumal temple is an important festival celebrated here.
Chariot Festival:
The chariot of Karaikal is dedicated to Kailasanathar Temple. The Karaikal Chariot festival is celebrated once a year. The idol of Lord Kailasanathar is taken in the chariot through the important streets of Karaikal.

Chandra Theertham is the temple tank of Karaikal Ammaiyar Temple, Nithyakalyana Perumal Temple and Karaikal Kailasanathar Temple. The Karaikal float festival (Theppam) celebrated in this temple tank. The belief of the Karaikal people is if we bath once in this temple tank, all the bone related diseases and fractures will get cured. The Chandra Theertham is cleaned for long time and the work got completed in the year 2010.




In 2010 the Karaikal Floating festival was held after 30 years. This was due to the help of the local MLA and former Health minister Mr. A.M.H. Nazeem. It was celebrated in a grand manner. After that continuously, for every year a Float festival was started to be held. The Theppam will move in this Temple tank, rounding three times. People of Karaikal and nearby towns gather in the Chandra Theertham during this festival. This Floating festival is celebrated either for the Nithyakalyana Perumal or Karaikal Kailasanathar.
