Auro Beach, Puducherry
Auroville Beach or in short Auro beach is one of the
most beautiful Beaches located in Auroville Area of Puducherry Town in Union
Territory of Puducherry. This Beach is located on the scenic ECR road, connects
Puducherry with Chennai. Auro beach is located close to another famous Serenity
Beach. This beach lies opposite the road that takes you to Auroville. Auroville
beach has golden-colored soft black volcanic sand. The waves at the beach are
small and the waters are shallow, making it ideal for swimming. As the beach’s
slope is gentle, swimming is one of the best things to do at the Auroville
beach for expert as well as novice swimmers.
The shingle and shells in different colors get deposited
here, making the beach all the more beautiful. This is less crowded beach
compared to the Serenity beach and is the best place for the people who are
hoping to get some privacy and enjoy their lonely time without much noise. This
beach is quite popular with foreigners. The beach is mostly visited in the
weekends by the local people. On the other days of the week, the beach remains
isolated. Sunrise is more spectacular at this beach. There are some beach huts
and resorts which provide food and accommodation for the visitors.
The Beach is located at about 300 meters from Auroville
Beach Bus Stop, 3 Kms from Serenity Beach, 7 Kms from Auroville, 8 Kms from Puducherry
Airport, 9 Kms from Puducherry Main Bus Stand, 9 Kms from Puducherry Railway
Station and 144 Kms from Chennai Airport. The Beach is situated on Pondicherry
Bus Stand to Ganapathy Chetti Kulam / Kalapet Bus Route or ECR Road connecting
Puducherry and Chennai. Tourists can take the local bus going towards Kalapet or
any Chennai bound bus plying on the ECR Route, get down at Auroville Beach Bus
Stop. The Beach is located at a walkable distance from this Bus Stop. Taxis and
Autos are also available to reach this Beach from any part of Puducherry.
Nearest Railway Station is located at Puducherry. Nearest Airport is located at
Puducherry and Chennai.
