Thiruvakkarai – Kanda Lingam Shrine
Kanda Lingam Shrine is situated opposite to Vakra Kali Shrine in the temple premises. This Shrine is facing towards west. It is said that demon Vakrasura worshipped this Lingam. Kanda Lingam is also called as Vakra Lingam / Athma Lingam. It is said that during summer this lingam is cool to touch, and droplets of water can be seen during rainy season. The Shiva lingam has the base turned the other way compared to the common depiction confirming to the Vakra nature of this temple. The Nandhi facing the Vakra Lingam is half-submerged to the ground.
